Position Title : Investment Banking Associate - Debt Capital Markets

Minimum Experience: 3 years

Education: Bachelor's Degree required

Additional Education/Experience:
Sales/client facing, negotiation and interpersonal skills required. Credit training and/or lending experience required. Knowledge of corporate finance, relevant bank credit and debt capital markets products and continual development of product expertise required.

Leadership:
Coverage responsibilities for middle market and commercial real estate Relationship Managers, as well take execution direction from Managing Director and Director level colleagues. Organizes work flow for Associate and Analyst colleagues on transactions and/or projects; reviews the work of others.

Position Summary:
Responsible for selling Bank's product expertise in Loan Syndications. Has direct interaction and coverage responsibilities with Relationship and Portfolio Managers. Uses knowledge of credit, corporate finance, and financial markets to assist RMs and PMs in providing lead bank financing solutions to clients.

Oversees and/or executes preparation of client pitch books, transaction comparables, financial models, offering memorandums, interaction with prospective investors, and facilitates deal execution from start to close.

Proficiency in credit fundamentals and is able to determine the appropriate risks on new and prospective clients and transactions so that all relationships are entirely in strategic alignment with the risk profile of the Bank and external financial markets.

Associate Responsibilities Include:

  • Client Interaction - Contribute in pitch meetings and new business development discussions
  • Idea Generation:
  • Anticipate needs for upcoming meetings on senior bankers' schedule and pipelines Working knowledge of specific industry / products and demonstrate fluency in capital markets activities across products
  • Identify potential transaction opportunities
  • Transaction Management
  • Manage analyst workflow potential and in-market transactions
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve real-time and identify and communicate transaction issues requiring resolution
  • Coaching & Developing Others
  • Train new analysts and act as a consistent resource for junior bench
  • Participate in analyst recruiting and collaborate with senior team members on identifying and delivering analyst feedback
  • Quality Assurance
  • Draft accurate work deliverables (CIMs, LP, pitches, internal approval memos) that demonstrate an understanding of: the broad capital markets, the loan market in general, and the issue specifically
  • Earn the trust of those above, below, and around the associate for error-free work products

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and three years previous work experience in investment banking or a related field.

Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a working knowledge of financial models.

Sound knowledge of Windows and PC software programs.
