Job description

Global Science & Technology, Inc., a growing scientific federal contractor, is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior HR Generalist, the HR Generalist will be involved in all aspects of human resources including employee relations, benefits, and compliance. This "roll up your sleeves" position helps execute the day-to-day human resources functions for our staff.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage employee on and off boarding. Make data changes in HRIS and other systems, and coordinate and communicate with all involved parties.
  • Administer benefits, and manage employee enrollment and changes, data entry, verification of enrollments, Cobra, and 401K reporting. Serve as the point of contact for employee benefits questions and support.
  • Coordinate with Accounting for semi-monthly payroll changes. Handle HR and benefits data changes. Create and submit related documentation to payroll.
  • Handle state Unemployment inquiries promptly.
  • Respond promptly to HR Helpdesk inquiries, and refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate HR staff.
  • Maintain HR calendar, including events, annual projects and compliance deadlines. Assist with annual government filings, such as AAP, EEO, VEVRAA, ACA, etc.
  • Learn GST's HR policies and procedures and be prepared to answer related employee inquiries.
  • Respond to GST HR's ISO Quality initiatives by gathering data, analyzing, and reporting monthly, quarterly and annually to Quality Manager.
  • Assist HR Department on other assignments and/or special projects as requested.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A PHR/SHRM certificate is preferred, but not required.
  • 1 to 4 years of demonstrated human resource experience is required. This person should have a solid knowledge of various Federal and State Labor Laws, the FAR, OSHA, etc. and willing/able to quickly research and find answers to what is unknown.
  • General knowledge of the FAR and experience working for a Federal contractor a plus.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS databases.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook
  • PHR or SHRM certification a plus
  • Previous Benefits experience a plus
