Job description

Nebel Street Animal Hospital is a well-established and busy general practice. We are looking for a veterinary receptionist to add to our team. Our hospital has a supportive and enjoyable working environment with strong leadership and emphasis on teamwork. We are looking to fill both a full-time and part time position with a flexible schedule, however, rotating Saturday shifts will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets courteously, clients entering hospital, determines nature and purpose of visit, answers questions and provides information and assistance
  • Answers telephones courteously in order to schedule appointments, answer questions, and take messages
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments appropriately, including surgery, exams, etc.
  • Admits and discharges animals within the hospital
  • Assists in weighing animals and records weight appropriately in chart
  • Fills and dispenses medications per hospital protocol
  • Sets up the files for the animal for the day and the next day for exams, and surgery
  • Receives payment for services, processes credit card payments and records receipts
  • Performs daily accounting, completing daily fee sheet, balancing books and running charge card batch
  • Assists in resolving appropriate complaints and issues from clients
  • Calls and confirms appointments for the next day
  • Keeps front of hospital clean; sweep, mop and dust as necessary
  • Keeps personal work area clean: desk, phones, counter, computer screen, etc.
  • Has knowledgeable of all current hospital fees, policies, products and services
  • All other duties as required
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs when necessary

Candidates must have excellent skills in the following areas: client service, communication, and multi-tasking. We are looking for someone with a great attitude, outgoing personality, a high level of computer proficiency and exceptional telephone communication ability. Most importantly, applicants must be team players who enjoy working as part of a team in a high energy, fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a veterinary hospital is preferred, but not required.
