Who You Are
You're a strong problem solver who loves digging into the details to fully understand what is going on. You have fixed a lot of problems, so you know how sort out what is meaningful and what is not to be as efficient as possible. You are comfortable taking the lead and enjoy organizing lean processes and continuous improvement efforts. You are looking for a high-visibility role where you can make an immediate and lasting impact. You're agile and adaptable but work with precision to ensure our engineering teams have safe, inspired workspaces to innovate the world's best power tools. You also have:

  • Associates Degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline (Electronics and Electrical Systems), with working knowledge and experience with mechanical and / or electrical system or facility maintenance and repair -or- High school diploma with 3-5 years of hands on experience with mechanical and / or electrical system or facility maintenance and repair.
  • Experience in lab setup, lab management and improvement; and managing an engineering lab space preferred.
  • Procurement and material handling experience preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills.
  • Strong drive and sense of ownership.
  • Ability to develop creative yet practical solutions to technical and/or programmatic challenges. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ANSI or DOT regulations preferrence
What You'll Do
As the Electronics Engineering Lab Manager, you will play a vital role in coordinating the operation and maintenance of the engineering development labs and new product development collaboration spaces for Global Tools and Storage (GTS). You'll get to:
  • Manage engineering lab day-to-day operations including lab organization, lab space access, security, and safety protocols.
  • Organize lab layouts, move tools and equipment to support engineering teams to set up spaces as required, deliver product, tools and supplies to the space to support the team's work.
  • Diagnose equipment and building infrastructure malfunctions, expedite and coordinate repairs or replacement to minimize lab downtime and serve as the primary point-of-contact for all engineering lab-related repair and maintenance activities.
  • Manage inventory of hardware components, equipment, products, and other supplies, and procure spare parts and supplies to ensure all supplies are stocked and available when needed by engineering teams.
  • Perform lab asset management duties including equipment and asset database, storage of specialized development hardware, manage material handling equipment used for transporting equipment between lab spaces, maintain instrument calibrations and service laboratory equipment.
  • Own and manage the process for hotel and lab workspace reservation system.
  • Develop and maintain waste management plan for engineering labs including waste minimization and zero-waste-to-landfill targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to improve the effectiveness of the labs and to ensure that lab design, equipment and layout is aligned with new product development roadmaps.
  • Maintain the engineering lab 5S program.
  • Ensure employee adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality requirements as needed to maintain compliance with lab certifications and company policies.
  • Ensure safety incidents and near misses are properly documented, reported, and investigated.
  • Drive the Safety Always safety culture and promote employee EHS engagement in the engineering labs.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
