Job description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead US manufacturing team, applying and teaching LEAN principles and fostering continuous improvement methodologies that ensure improved productivity, efficiency, and eliminate waste throughout the value streams.
• Establish and communicate goals and measurements to direct reports through the Bemis Performance Management Process.
• Support quality function in developing root cause and corrective action for quality issues.
• Partner with Logistics and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient execution of production plan, minimizing downtime, and meeting schedule attainment goals to best serve our customers
• Provide technical expertise and effective problem solving techniques to resolve business and manufacturing issues.
• Planning and implementing programs to maintain a safe and productive work environment and to foster suggestions to drive engagement of all employees in continuous improvement.
• Assist with identifying and investigating variances from standards (material costs & labor) and operating budgets and implementing corrective actions.
• Understand, train, and comply with ISO9001 standards.
• Interface with all functional departments as needed to discuss and resolve production problems.
• Thorough understanding of the engineering documentation process and ERP.
• Work closely with Quality Control technicians, production personnel, customer service and other groups communicating any new processes or procedures relating to quality issues.
• Manages corporate and development project as assigned.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements (minimum acceptable and/or preferred):
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (preferably in Plastics or Chemical Engineering) required.
Experience:
• 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience with at least 3 years as a Production Manager (union environment preferred)
• Minimum 3 years coaching / teaching lean manufacturing.
• Must have prior experience coaching mentoring and developing a diversified workforce.
• Prior experience within the plastics industry is highly desirable. Specific Skills:
• Exemplary leadership, teambuilding and communication skills.
• Must have a high degree of integrity with the ability to handle confidential information.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operational systems, best practices, processes and technology.
• Understanding of operational budgets, cost analysis, and planning forecasts.
• Hands on knowledge of managerial and problem-solving skills.
• ERP system knowledge Travel:
• 5% (primarily domestic, but may require occasional international) Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:
• Worked in an ISO certified company is a plus.
