Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Senior Financial Reporting and Systems Analyst position. The Senior Financial Reporting and Systems Analyst is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the database system and reporting that supports the work of the CFO, Shared Services, Budget and the Controller offices. The Sr. Analyst is the primary steward, gatekeeper and communicator for the financial data structure as well as permissions to access the data and reporting. The Sr. Analyst is also responsible for developing new reporting as needed and developing reporting skills in key staff where appropriate.
The Sr. Analyst will also be a key resource, together with the IT team, in helping to support all integrations involving the financial data flowing between systems (Workday and banks, payment providers, Colleague, etc.).
This role is a key contact for a diverse set of campus users to help build a better understanding of available financial reporting.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Database Administration -- Administer and maintain the database systems and reporting tools in support of the work of the CFO, Shared Services, Budget and Controller offices. Liaise with the IT department to ensure systems and tools are working accurately. Optimally communicate across a diverse team of individuals and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
- Database Architect - In concert with the Controller, architect the College's financial data and structure - directing all intersections and/or organization of data (General Ledger chart of accounts and sub ledgers) as well as any other external systems that interface with the financial and reporting data. Develop new tools and functionality as needed.
- Report Writing - Develop new reports (production level and ad hoc) as needed using Workday, Business Objects, Synoptix, Excel, and Online via CMS. Develop reports using new tools if required.
- OCFO Advocate - Represents the CFO, Shared Services, Budget, and Controller Offices data needs as a member of the Core Team (College's central data team) and as primary campus point person for financial data and reporting.
- Identify and develop new functionality to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial transactions and data and to streamline internal processing.
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining all security/permissions related to access of financial data and reports.
Qualifications
R e quir e d:
- Bachelor's Degree and relevant training on reporting and system tools
- Minimum of 10 years working with financial reporting & systems in higher educational setting, accounting, good communication skills - oral and written, strong organizational skills
- A strong commitment to and demonstrated ability to contribute to an intentionally inclusive environment for all members of the community
P r e f e r r e d:
- College degree in computer science or analytics and/or accounting
- Experience with Workday Financials, Business Objects and Excel;
- Strong understanding of the general ledger and financial systems and data landscape in higher education.
