Job description

Position Summary:
The Director Tax Accounting is located at the Corporate Headquarters of a Fortune 1000, global specialty chemicals company in Boston, MA. This is a highly visible, key position within the tax team responsible for ensuring that Cabot complies with its tax reporting obligations to the SEC and other regulatory agencies. The role includes extensive interaction with Cabot's external auditors and ensuring compliance with Cabot's internal audit and control requirements. This position will participate in other tax department activities, such as international and U.S. tax audits, tax return compliance, and M&A activities.

Job Responsibilities:
•Manage activities required for the timely and accurate disclosure of required tax information for regulatory reporting as required under ASC 740 including APB 23 and FIN 48
• Manage activities required for the timely and accurate filing of all domestic income tax returns including managing the outsourced tax return provider engagement
• Provide analysis and advice to Cabot personnel regarding issues that impact the overall tax position
• Provide tax analysis and support for new business initiatives
• Provide support and advice to Cabot personnel and local advisors concerning tax audits outside the U.S.
• Responsible for supervision of tax staff

Requirements:
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting for income tax requirements and related issues
• Extensive experience in SEC reporting
• Detailed knowledge of U.S. Federal and State corporate tax concepts and informed regarding changes in tax laws and regulations which affect the company
• Strong organization and project management skills
• Expertise with the various software tools utilized within the department and throughout Cabot; experience with CorpTax provision and compliance software a plus
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to collaborate in a cross functional team environment
• Ability to develop an understanding of global businesses and develop a network of contacts for information about changing business conditions and strategies
• University degree, and/or master's in taxation (MST)
• CPA required
• Minimum 12 years tax experience, preferably within the public accounting industry or publicly traded U.S. based multi-national companies
