POSITION OBJECTIVES
We are seeking a passionate Engineer II to join the Viral Vector Laboratory of Takeda biologics process development. The successful candidate will play an integral role in optimization and process development of small/medium scale viral production and support pre-clinical research as part of a larger multidisciplinary team effort. We are looking for highly motivated and intellectually curious individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Assist in planning and carrying out of experiments, analyzing and presenting data.
* Keep accurate and complete documentation of experimental studies in the ELN and contribute to technical reports and protocols.
* Work with BSL 2 materials, follow safe lab procedures and maintain good laboratory practices (GLPs).
* Assists with technical transfer of experimental data/procedures to manufacturing site.
* Coordinates with colleagues within the team or from other functions on project work.
* Stay updated on new, relevant technologies and published literature to support innovation within the group.
* Support new technology evaluations to increase product yield and process understanding.
* Communicate effectively with teams; via email, meetings, presentations, and posters..
* Display sound technical judgement.
* Occasionally, perform weekend and holiday work to support on-going lab activities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Education and Experience:
Required:
* Associates degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 2+ years relevant industry experience
* Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 0-3 years relevant industry experience.
LINE FUNCTION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with cell culture and aseptic techniques is required.
* Experience with transfection, viral production, stir tank bioreactor operation and metabolite analyzer is preferred.
* Appropriate laboratory training
Knowledge and Skills:
* Experience with adherent and/or suspension cell culture techniques with strong understanding of aseptic operations is required. Transfection, viral production, and purification experience is desired.
* Experience utilizing stirred-tank bioreactors in the production of viral vectors and/or antibodies is desired. Disposable and single use stirred-tank bioreactor experience is a plus.
* Practical knowledge in a range of in process analytical techniques, such as but not limited to, metabolite analyzer, gas/pH analyzer, microscope, flow cytometer and ddPCR.
* Ability to work under supervision and function within a collaborative/team-oriented environment.
* Detail-oriented and strong ownership with the work assigned.
* Good documentation and communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects to completion
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
* Weekend and holiday work may be required to maintain cell culture vessels or set up assays.
