Job description
We are looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to join our Human Resources coverage team in support of our Bain Capital Life Sciences (BCLS) business. BCLS focuses on making long-term investments in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, and life science technology companies globally. Its guiding principles are to invest in companies focused on helping patients with significant unmet medical needs, driving distinctive innovation, and creating exceptional investor returns. Through investments in both private and public equities, as well as in select debt instruments, the team differentiates itself though the depth and breadth of its experience in both private and public equity investing, as well as industry.
The HR Manager will work closely with the BCLS Partners and the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, to help support the overall talent management agenda for BCLS, including assessing, hiring and retaining the best talent possible, on-going performance and compensation management activities, and a variety of development and Human Resources-related initiatives to enhance the team's overall professional capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The HR Manager will be involved in a myriad of activities depending on business priorities and needs. He/she will become deeply involved and help to drive day-to-day business and people-related activities for BCLS, and will work in close collaboration with many of the BCLS Partners and Principals. Key responsibilities of this role may include, but not be limited to, the following -
Recruitment / Talent Acquisition
- Acting as primary lead on external recruitment searches, including developing a tailored strategic search plan for all junior- to mid-level investment positions and related business and administrative roles.
- Leading the BCLS Fellow Program recruiting in conjunction with a BCLS Partner to identify outstanding scientific and technical talent in this investment space.
- Leading the BCLS Associate Program recruiting in partnership with our 3rd party search partner.
- Developing robust pipelines of qualified candidates for open positions utilizing innovative and creative sourcing techniques (e.g., LinkedIn recruiter, related industry networks, leveraging alumni networks, 3rd party agencies).
- Focusing on proactive talent identification, including building and developing strong internal and external industry networks to proactively generate leads/candidates.
- Acting as primary liaison for all candidates with responsibility for facilitating the interview process soup-to-nuts - from initial talent screens, interview schedules and feedback collection, to compiling offer package recommendations, conducting reference checks, and development of closing strategy for top candidates, etc.
- Driving assimilation plans and on-boarding process for new hires.
- Maintaining, updating all recruiting-related marketing materials.
Talent Development
- Assisting with facilitation, coordination of semi-annual performance management processes -updating/enhancing competency models, summarizing & developing action plans for development themes, assisting in generation of performance messages/themes, etc.
- Assisting Senior Vice President in facilitation of annual compensation, headcount planning and budget processes
- Developing and supporting the training agenda for junior investment staff (Analysts, Associates, etc.) and work with senior investment team members to identify areas for improvement in current offerings.
- Assisting in coordination, development of ad hoc training and team development initiatives - e.g., team off-sites, meetings.

This individual must have intellectual rigor and possess the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of individuals across the organization. He/she must be comfortable working in a fast moving professional services environment with often competing priorities, and possess outstanding communication and relationship skills, including the ability to tailor messages and approaches to individual audience needs. - Highly proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) - Experience with Workday is a plus

The ideal player will have as a minimum a bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials and have at least of 7-10 years of HR-related work experience in recruiting or as an HR business partner directly aligned with a business unit. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working in an HR capacity in the biotech and/or life sciences ecosystem.
