Perch is a whole new kind of direct-to-consumer energy start-up being built alongside an established community solar business that makes it easy for consumers to access clean energy and reduce their carbon footprint. Currently, the direct-to-consumer business is in stealth mode, we're looking for an insanely talented, eco-conscious product designer to help us build on our vision. The position is fully remote, with a team that works on EST (Eastern Standard Time) and IST (Indian Standard Time), so overlap with these time zones is desired. This is an awesome opportunity to help shape a cool new company-and turn it into a renewable energy leader.

Your role as a Product Designer will be to design features for Perch's web, mobile web, and future mobile apps that are both useful & delightful. You'll become a leader of a young, but high-impact, Product Experience team whose shared goal is to build elegant, user-centric product solutions. You'll passionately act as the voice of the user. You'll relentlessly pursue ways to make energy consumers' lives easier. Whether you're designing a new way for consumers to shop for clean energy or creating an engaging onboarding flow, you'll work closely with other Product Managers, Engineers, and Product Marketers to define the boundaries of design problems, seeing them from multiple perspectives and advocating for simple and impactful solutions.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

• Design and prototype simple and elegant experiences.
• Own all stages of the design process from concept through launch.
• Solve product problems with a focus on the best user experience while balancing company goals, design cohesion, and ease of implementation.
• Seek out, understand and incorporate qualitative and quantitative feedback throughout the design process.
• Test multivariate solutions to iterate to the right design as evidenced by data.
• Work autonomously in a cross-functional, agile product group with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Analysts to prioritize and build new features
• Regularly give and receive feedback with other Designers to ensure quality, consistency, and collaboration
• Have a deep understanding of user needs and business objectives in your agile group's product area
• Prioritize appropriately: Use good judgment to make appropriate tradeoffs to speed up product learning and balance competing priorities
• Additionally, as a member of the initial team of Perch, you will also own branding for the company.
• Help evolve our young brand and make that reflected in our design.
• Help to maintain and evolve our design system.
• Hire and build a product design team
• Coach and mentors junior designers

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

• Strong portfolio that can be shared, showcasing your past work and process
• Experience leading or mentoring junior designers.
• You have at least 8-10 years of experience designing modern consumer-focused products
• Experience shipping products in an agile environment on cross-platform (web, iOS & Android)
• Demonstrated experience in both visual and interactive design
• An up-to-date understanding of mobile and web best practices and trends
• Passion for being involved in the big picture, while fearlessly diving into the details
• No ego when it comes to product or design
• Comfort with a fast-paced, agile development process
• Incredible product judgment
• The ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle ambiguity
• Have a great sense for aesthetics that could both work with and extend Perch's style
• Experience working at scale with Design Systems
