The Senior Major Gifts Officer, reporting to the Director of Development, will play an instrumental role in the fundraising efforts of The Home for Little Wanderers (The Home) by engaging key individual donors and securing gifts from prospects with the capacity to give $10,000+. Charitable giving is critical to the ability of The Home to serve more than 15,000 traumatized children and families each year. In this position the Senior Major Gifts Officer will proactively build and manage a portfolio of 120 - 150 major gift prospects working collaboratively across the organization to achieve The Home's mission.

How You Will Be Making a Difference
* Manage a portfolio of 120 to 150 prospects and donors, acting as an externally facing fundraiser, working to strategically develop new relationships through proactive outreach. Develop and implement overall strategies for engagement, solicitation, cultivation and coordination of all steps with a goal to increase the number of gifts, donors and revenue at the $10,000+ level.
* Work collaboratively with The Home's Individual Giving Team to determine best strategies for major gift prospects capable of gifts of $25,000+. Develop fundraising strategies, identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit donors for major gifts and planned gifts. Manage relationships, solicitations, engagement and stewardship activities.
* Work collaboratively with the Development team and all of the other departments and programs of The Home. Develop deep understanding of the Agency's mission, programs and activities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization and across all programs are required.
* As a senior member of the Development Team help shape, articulate and bring to life The Home's mission and case for support. Work closely with the Director of Development and the Development team to build the pipeline of major gift donors and prospects.
* Contribute to fundraising communications, including but not limited to letters, emails, newsletters, proposals, briefs, presentations, and reports.
* Achieve at least 10 donor and prospect visits per month. Manage gift documentation, actions and activity in Raiser's Edge, regularly documenting and reporting key activity metrics: project and track major gifts, personal contacts; proposals submitted; status of outstanding proposals; successful solicitations; new prospects.
* Manage and lead volunteers and groups of volunteers in engaging with the mission of The Home and activities that will support The Home's priorities financially and help in growing the network of supporters and advocates.
* In consultation with the Director of Development, set annual individual fundraising goals; track solicitation amounts, anticipated gifts, pledges, and revenue; and provide regular revenue and cash flow updates on projections.
* Work effectively, independently and in teams; demonstrate personal initiative, good judgment, and timely and accurate follow-through on all tasks and assignments.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree.
* Minimum 6-9 years of successful major gift experience working in a nonprofit organization.
* Familiarity and comfort with planned giving practices
* Proven track record of soliciting and securing five- and six-figure gifts from individual donors.
* Must support the mission of The Home for Little Wanderers
* Expert interpersonal skills.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team both in-person and virtually.
* Superior written and verbal communication skills.
* Familiarity with fundraising best practices, standards, and ethics.
* Proficiency in Raiser's Edge and Zoom/Teams is preferred.
