Overview

Our Librarian will oversee the library and perform related library services including selecting, acquiring, cataloguing, classifying, circulating, and maintaining library materials.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum of an Associate in Arts or Science degree from an institution whose two (2) year program meets the American Library Association Criteria for Programs to Prepare Library/Media Technical Assistants.

Experience:

Minimum of six (6)months of experience in various library tasks relating to the acquisition and circulation of books.

Licenses/Certifications:

Massachusetts Sub-professional or Professional Certificate of Librarianship preferred.
Responsibilities

Analyze requests to determine needed information and assist in furnishing or locating that information.
Search standard reference materials, including online sources and the Internet, to answer reference questions.
Plan and teach classes on topics such as information literacy.
Review and evaluate materials, using book reviews, catalogs, faculty recommendations, and current holdings to select and order print, audio-visual, and electronic resources.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
