Associate Director / Director Proteomics

Location: Cambridge, MA

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Associate Director/Director of Proteomics to join our team. This person will have a proven track record to develop and lead the Proteomics group within Discovery Research. The experienced scientist will lead our newly established Proteomics team to create and execute an effective strategy for the implementation of state-of-the-art mass spectrometry technologies with specific emphasis on drug induced proteome dynamics, investigation of post-translational modifications, characterization of clinical and preclinical samples towards effective target identification, biomarker discovery and patient selection. The candidate is expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative matrixed environment, interfacing with oncology, structural biology, SMM platform development and medicinal chemistry to bring to bear proteomics techniques to tackle complex biological questions. This position will play a critical role in driving Nested's portfolio forward.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop research solutions and build drug discovery cascades to support hit identification, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization campaigns. Enable translational and clinical research activities.

Collaborate cross-functionally to drive chemical library and proteome interactions screens. Develop informatic pipelines and new methods for in-depth mechanistic studies.

Manage high level risk by making complex judgments, will drive innovation and ensure scientific excellence through internal scientific development, external collaborations, and competitive awareness.

Experience with effective utilization of proteomics analytical instrumentation (latest generation, nano-chromatography and mass spectrometry) and associated data handling software interfaces is a must.

Experience with automation and laboratory instrument data management is desirable.

Maintain excellent communication across internal and external team members.

Previous work with outsourced Proteomic functions via industrial or academic partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Proteomics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology or related discipline. A strong record of achievement, including publications in high-impact journals.
  • Experience with Thermo Mass Spectrometers and data analysis systems for qualitative and quantitative analyses. Experience in nanoflow HPLC.
  • 5-10 years of experience in biopharma with a track record of impacting all stages of the drug discovery process through proteomic experimental design and results.
  • Understanding of current state-of-the-art methods for mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
  • General knowledge of signaling pathways and regulation of gene expression.
  • Experience in building and managing a team of scientists with diverse levels of experience, with a keen desire to grow and develop the careers of team members.
  • Integrity, scientific rigor and commitment to teamwork.
