Sr. Scientist, Cell Therapy
Cambridge, MA

Summary
Seeking an innovative and experienced scientist to join the ex vivo pharmacology team to develop Client cell-based medicines utilizing proprietary gene editing platform.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current scientific literature to propose new approaches and to design and create the next generation cell therapy platform, specifically in iPSC-derived or HSC-derived therapeutics
  • Develop project strategy, understand timeline and deliverables, plan and coordinate project work with functional stakeholders
  • Lead and execute activiteis to build process to generate cell therapy products
  • Develop molecular and cellular assays to characterize the identity, purity, and potency of cell therapy products
  • Collaborate with in vivo pharmacology team to perform in vivo proof-of-concept studies
  • Interact with clinical development and manufacturing teams to plan and conduct IND-enabling studies internally and at CRO
  • Manage CROs and academic collaborators
  • Present data internally and at scientific conferences
  • Establish SOPs, write prospective protocols, author study reports and regulatory documents, assist patent filing
  • Serves as a technical and scientific resource for junior staff
Qualifications
  • PhD in stem cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, or related disciplines with a minimum of 6 years of academic or industry experience
  • Process broad knowledge of current concepts in cell and gene therapy
  • Experience in developing iPSC-derived or HSC-derived cell therapy products
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in cell culture, development of molecular and cellular assays, and handling of small laboratory animals
  • Experience in managing direct reports
  • Familiarity with FDA and EMA guidance for cell and gene therapy; experience with IND-filing preferred
  • Ability to conduct high-quality resaerch and execute research plans in a timely and organized manner
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional team in a fast-pace and dynamic environment to meet project goals under a tight timeline
  • Driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong technical, written and communication skills
