Summary:
The person is responsible for completing the configuration of all Helix printers and ensuring this build is aligned with the details of specific customer orders. Final testing and validation of options, tooling, and image quality to is to be verified before packaging and shipment. This technician is also responsible for documenting all out of box quality (OBQ) findings to help ensure corrective action with our manufacturing partners.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- With the guidance of one or more experienced Service Technicians:
- Review an inspection check list while viewing a completed machine to familiarize oneself with what to look for regarding OBQ issues.
- Perform a detailed review of the documentation that has been created to "bring up" single and Double Helixes from both of our contract manufacturers.
- Track the labor time you put into each unit by serial number by daily documentation of your time split between different functions.
- When possible, oversee the uncrating of the machine by shipping personnel while looking for obvious out of crate damage. Guide shipping personnel where to set the machine up.
- Inspect the machine per the check list and complete the inspection documentation.
- Based on the customer order detail, collect the hardware needs for the machine and document all inventory pulls to capture what serial number parts go in each machine and allow for configuration tracking and the accuracy of inventory reporting.
- As directed, add any hardware (PC boards, ink jet heads, optional hardware), customer-specific ink, and software loading of the system PC.
- Install the tooling and verify it's fit and function before powering the system up.
- Complete the start up of the machine. Perform system alignments with vellum on the calibration cylinders.
- Consistent with the documentation, complete the machine set-up and print evaluation, including the pretreatment approach prescribed by the Service Manager.
- Ensure all of printing requirements required by the customer are met. Where appropriate, provide samples to Service for final approval and shipment to the customer.
- After approval by the Service Manager, oversee packaging the machine with shipping. Make certain that any shipping metrology (tip sensors, g sensors) are securely located where defined.
- When the packaging is complete, document the total number of labor hours spent on each machine and provide this information to their supervisor.
- As needed, support the Service team as they enter the Asset details into the Salesforce database.
- Work with Service to keep a closed loop on the product quality whereby any installation defects at the customer site are documented and addressed either by Inkcups or our CMs.
- Should the details of the aforementioned processes evolve for efficiency and/or the inclusion of new options, hardware, or software, the Technician should make sure the process documentation is updated to reflect this and is provided to our CMs and our team in Europe for consistent processing.
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting of metrics associated with incoming product quality and installation quality.
Education and Experience:
- AS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology a plus
- 3+ years of experience with assembly, inspection, and debug of complex electromechanical systems.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- A "can do" attitude as a teammate with a willingness to work overtime when our customer or revenue needs require it.
- Flexibility to help Engineering or Service as various tasks come up.'
