Job description
We seek a Network Administrator II responsible for day to day operations of the network hardware, software and security. Duties include maintenance and performance of network configurations, network security, act as backup System Administrator, telephony, end user equipment support and change control management. Responsible for review of performance metrics, key maintenance processes and proactive recommendations of resources to maintain business technologies.
RESPONSIBILITES AND ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Maintains accurate depictions of network topology including systems impacted by network hardware and IOS. Maintains configuration documentation.
- Identifies network security threats and actively and proactively mitigates issues. Assures virus protection software meets business needs to secure internet end user risks.
- Manages, maintains and documents the following:
- VPN configurations, connectivity and security risks.
- Wireless network configurations, connectivity and security risks. Implements penetration testing and mitigates exposure.
- Firewall configurations, connectivity and security risks.
- Performs daily reviews of critical performance metrics, network events, intrusion attempts and resolves issues as needed. KPI reporting is provided to supervision.
- Supports end user support, including hardware and software.
- Performs hardware installations as required. Works with key members of other departments to ensure no production impact.
- Perform software installations and updates as required. Configures network equipment to provide connectivity to business systems as required while minimizing exposure
- Strong understanding of web services, load balancing, external ISP connectivity
- Communicate performance issues and make recommendations as necessary.
- Monitor network security, and mitigate issues as needed.
- Maintains support for telephony systems and door security systems.
- Participates in the IT 7x24 after-hours rotation.
- Acts as backup System Administrator as required: Windows 2Kx operating systems (Data Center and Server level), Active Directory, Exchange Email, VMWare, SAN Storage, Microsoft SqlServer and SAP).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Preparation and Training
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and technical experience required.
Must possess strong communication skills, ability to learn quickly and be well organized.
- Certifications
Minimum of 2 Cisco professional certifications required above CCNA. Wireless network certification preferred. Cybersecurity certification a plus.
- Work Experience Minimum 4 years progressive recent experience managing Cisco network equipment, IOS, high speed fiber optic networks and redundant services.

- VLAN
- FTP, SFTP
- IPv4 and IP v6
- Load balancing equipment, software and configuration
- Understanding of network environments, DHCP, DNS, TCPIP, WINS, IIS
- Ability to plan and execute upgrades and installations while mitigating risk to operations.
- Minimum 2 years recent experience with Windows Server systems.
