Description:

The candidate will be a member of the Global Discovery Pathology team and will be responsible for assisting with the execution of nonclinical hematology and clinical chemistry laboratory. The candidate for this position will need to become trained on applicable production operations on the unit operations in the lab as well as general laboratory procedures. Following training, the candidate will be expected to independently execute assigned experiments with minimal direction. Key responsibilities will include:

* Sampling of biofluids and tissue samples from laboratory rodents (mice, rats) during in-life and terminal stages of research studies
* Preparation of samples for hematology, serology and clinical chemistry analysis
* Operate, calibrate, run and maintain laboratory instruments including Sysmex hematology analyzer, Alfa Wasserman Vet Axcel chemistry analyzer, iSmart 30 Vet (Woodley) and other related equipment. Prior experience with hematology (automated and manual differential), coagulation, urinalysis (including microscopic), clinical chemistry analysis.
* Develop, standardize, evaluate, and modify standard operating procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis of specimens and in medical laboratory experiments.
* Oversee quality assurance programs, including proficiency testing, to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results. Operate, calibrate and maintain equipment used in the lab.
* Liaise with internal and external sponsors regarding scheduling and subsequently manage the prioritization of workloads and daily tasks for lab staff. Oversee inventory management/ordering, equipment maintenance schedules and be primary contact to equipment manufacturers for technical bulletins and updates.
