The Senior Payroll Associate is responsible to oversee and participate in processing of Hologic's bi-weekly, semi-monthly and stock option payrolls, accurately and on time. Activities may include: accounting, payment preparation and distribution, benefits, taxes, payroll deductions, overtime calculation, shift payments, bonuses, payroll record maintenance, government compliance, and reporting.
Description for Internal Candidates
· Senior specialist on the processing team for execution of full cycle payroll for 4,000 employees in the US and Canada (including multiple states and provinces)
· Leads, recommends and participates in department projects to continually review and improve current processes
· Analyze and process hours through ADP eTime system
· Performs highly complex payroll record error reconciliations, additions, and changes to the payroll system, including employee stock exercises, commissions, disability payments, etc.
· Audit various payroll reports for accuracy and SOX compliance
· Act as primary back-up for the other payroll associates
· Assist in year-end W2 preparation, fringe benefit processing
· Responds to inquiries that are of moderate to high complexity from managers and employees.
· Run bi-weekly payroll reports for Human Resources, third party vendors and various customers
· Research and respond to tax notices from Federal, State and Local agencies
· Assist Payroll Management with quarterly and yearly audits performed by outside audit firms
· Prepare manual checks.
· Prepare journal entries to record labor & payroll related accruals
· Reconcile various payroll related accounts to general ledger; reconcile ADP system with general ledger system results of general ledger account reconciliations.
· Assist with mentoring and developing junior staff and ensures accuracy of work performed. This individual will also champion and promote continuous departmental improvement.

· BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
· ADP - experience required.
· 5+ years of progressive payroll experience processing mid/large sized payroll (>1,000 ee's) multi state.
· Knowledge and experience with federal, local and multi state payroll tax laws.
· Must be able to handle sensitive information confidentially.
· Solid understanding of tax-related compensation and fringe benefits compensation issues.
· Must be a team player
· Must be dependable and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong computer skills, including strength in Excel .
· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent analytical and communication skills
· CPP - Certified Payroll Professional (preferred)
Education
· BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
