Position Description Job SummaryThe Purchasing Specialist will aid in MRO material quotes and price negotiations for the Saint-Gobain PCR facility in Worcester, MA . The incumbent will also perform specialized purchasing/finance functions, normally within an established time frame. The Main functions of this job include: MRO material quotes and price negotiations (60%) Communicate with MRO suppliers on price and lead time Conduct supplier quotations for MRO supplies Make recommendations on cost savings methods and price negotiations Expedite orders and revise delivery dates based on plant needs Assist in development of supplier partnerships through active involvement, supplier certificate evaluation, and supplier education Interact effectively with appropriate internal personnel to ensure that required supplier information is updated and maintained in the corporate systems Specialized purchasing/finance functions (40%) Responsible for any special project work assigned by a supervisor, including, but not limited to, training, report generation, and scheduling negotiations Participate in RFQ process to deliver value to the plant Point of contact for Payables on supplier invoicing/purchase order issues. Maintain weekly issues report with Shared Services Work with Finance to provide information for month end close Ensure purchase orders are executed in a timely and cost effective manner, so as to satisfy customer requirements Handle confidential data in the performance of the required functions. Examples include material specifications and detailed design drawings. Develop and maintain relationships with internal departments to understand methods of manufacturing, quality requirements, cost restrictions, etc.; to troubleshoot delivery, and price variances. Operate personal computer, using preprogrammed and /or self-developed software programs to document required information within Finance / Purchasing or to maintain and prepare required records and reports. Works independently within established parameters, with a minimum amount of direction, and is generally supervised by results. The incumbent must be able to make decisions when necessary, although advice and assistance from supervisor are available when needed. Required Qualifications Familiarity with Financial / Purchasing principals, concepts, and procedures acquired through an Associate's Degree or equivalent Strong organization skills One to three years related progressive work experience Working knowledge of computers Excel, Word, Power Point Experience in working in SAP and ShopVue preferred Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, vendors, and other professionals Company SummarySaint-Gobain Industrial Ceramics is a worldwide manufacturer of high temperature specialised refractory materials.
