Position Description Job SummaryThe candidate will work within Saint-Gobain material processing R&D team. The team works closely with various Saint-Gobain business units to improve production processes, solve problems, and develop new processes & products. The Research Technician performs experiments involving polymer processing on various laboratory and pilot scale equipment at the R&D Center. He/she works with engineers and customers in solving problems related to polymer processing. In addition, this position may also perform specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating equipment and products for assigned areas.The candidate should enjoy learning, problem solving, and working with new processes and process technologies.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate and maintain polymer processing equipment such as extrusion, injection molding, additive manufacturing. Supports engineers and scientists in R&D team with their projects. Prepare & process materials including: routine laboratory activity and development work with non-routine R&D assignments such as design of jigs or fixtures for experimental set-up and establishing proper data acquisition system. Manages and documents projects and tasks effectively with supervision. Lab management: safety aspects, equipment maintenance, overall cleanliness and organization, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc. Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. Works well in a professional and cordial work environment. Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to learn new skills or to operate different types of equipment Comfortable in environment with changing priorities.Required Qualifications Associates degree in an engineering, technical, or science related field (or demonstrated equivalent) with 4-7 years of experience or a high school degree with more than 10 years of work experience Hands on experience in general laboratory tasks included proper chemical handling Should have work experience with various equipment for polymer processing and characterization including: extrusion, injection molding, compounding & 3D printing.
