Looking for an individual to work in a small team environment and who is willing to do a little bit of everything. The Insurance Business Analyst role will serve as a key liaison to other departments and clients in developing, analyzing, validating and writing of business requirements, test plans and project plans, as well as being hands-on in testing and report writing. They will take charge of projects and deliver results that meet/exceed: the company and client expectations and stay within scope, budget and within projected time frames. Projects include both new developments and enhancements. On maintenance projects, the business analyst's role will focus on maintenance, or preventing and correcting defects; enhancements, or making changes to increase the value provided by the system; quality assurance, and operations and maintenance, or providing system validation procedures, maintenance reports, deactivation plans, and other documents, plans and reports.
Primary Job Responsibilities (consists of but are not limited to):

• The subject-matter expert who can easily liaise between IT, other departments and clients

• Collaborate with departments to identify, document and communicate business needs and provide IT solutions
• Ability to understand the users' requirements and communicate them in an appropriate manner
• Plan, elicit, capture, analyze and validate business, functional and technical requirements
• Lead requirements elicitation sessions and walkthroughs with business and IT resources
• Produce timely and high-quality requirements-related work products, including requirement specifications, process flows, mock-ups and wireframes
• Perform data analysis to identify data quality issues and facilitate it's resolution
• Plan, facilitate and execute system / functional testing and UAT for projects and enhancements
• Prepare reports either using a BI tool or directly query databases
• Lead or provide supporting role in project managements
• Regular reporting to applicable managers, executive team, and the client as required
• Escalation of issues in an appropriate, timely, and tactful manner and drive the resolution of issues and conflicts, internally as well as with clients and other vendors where appropriate
• Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
• Participate in post project analysis to reflect upon successes, failures and lessons learned
• Help develop user guides and other related materials
• Conduct training sessions
• Ability to lead effective meetings that are tailored to the audience
• Mentor junior business analysts/associates
• All other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of Property and Casualty insurance experience

• Bachelor's degree or 3 - 5 years of experience in Business Analyst role
• Experience querying relational databases and enjoys writing queries to explore the data in the database
• Experience writing reports using a BI tool is a plus
• Innovation skills and vision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Project management experience a plus
• Demonstrable experience with spreadsheet and data analysis
• Must have experience working with internal and external clients
• Experience in a small team environment, a team player with a positive can-do attitude
• Highly organized, detailed, analytical and the ability to multi-task
• Understanding of workflow design
• PMP designation helpful
