DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS The Licensed Practical Nurse supports the nursing process and functions under the direction of a Professional Registered Nurse. The Licensed Practical Nurse must adhere to policy and procedure for Berkshire Medical Center clinical services. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) Experience: Has a thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures. # Education and Training: Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing. # License, Certification # Registration: # LPN - Licensed Practical Nurses CPR BAT # Certified Breath Alcohol Technician, within 6 months of hire DOT Urine Collection for Drug Screening within 6 months of hire Valid MA driver#s license # Other Requirements: Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations. Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice. # Other Addendum(s) Requirements: # Five years of current clinical experience in acute care service strongly preferred. At least one year of experience in Occupational Health preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform diverse clinical skills under the direction of a registered nurse. Knowledge of nursing principles and community health practices. Demonstrated history of strong interpersonal and time management skills. Currently licensed by the Board of Registration in Massachusetts. Active and valid driver#s license and willing to go offsite. Immunization reviews. Compiles information for reporting to various committees. Needs to achieve Drug and Alcohol testing certification. Responsible for adherence of Respiratory program. Ability to take direction and follow through consistently. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Willingness to work flexible hours. Ability to drive an automobile in inclement weather. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. Must be patient focused and work to improve customer satisfaction. Must work within all regulatory guidelines as well as Gold Service and Patient Rights policies.
