This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business.Job PurposeThe Senior Energy Efficiency Program Specialist provides leadership to achieve alignment of internal, regulatory, and stakeholder priorities while maintaining a focus on meeting customer needs and expectations for energy efficiency, demand response, beneficial electrification, and other clean energy solutions. Applies critical thinking and an understanding of both broad and detailed views to design a cost-effective portfolio of energy management solutions that are innovative, holistic, accessible, and specifically focused on meeting the needs of the company's customers. In contributing to team delivery of energy and cost savings for customers, the Specialist will focus on efforts to optimize product offerings in support of delivering on regulatory commitments and achieving shareholder incentive targets. Each of the specialists on this team own the strategy and responsibilities for meeting certain commitments on specific components of the Company's energy efficiency portfolio. The primary efforts the candidate will be responsible for are: Building Codes & Appliance Standards efforts Residential and Commercial & Industrial Multi-Family Retrofit High Rise New ConstructionKey AccountabilitiesResponsibilities (including, but not limited to): Develops an understanding of customer needs and priorities, including differences that may exist among segments of customers. Applies critical thinking through insight gained via internal/external research, analysis, and best practices to creatively design solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations. Actively positions future integrated energy services linked to energy efficiency programs and services in order to support National Grid's achievement of energy efficiency targets, demand management and climate change objectives throughout the company in order to advance National Grid's position as a leader in these fields. Assesses the savings impacts of model energy codes and new appliance standards, calculating energy, demand, and carbon emissions savings. Includes the review of published codes to ensure increased energy savings, such as the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Tracks the status of energy code adoption across the U.S. and provides technical assistance to market actors implementing updated codes. Provides a variety of educational and training resources to ensure builders improve code compliance. Develops and maintains relationships with key external stakeholders (state energy and environmental departments, other utilities and energy efficiency program administrators) to coordinate and collaborate on new or modified offerings in order to expand opportunities to better serve new and existing customers while ensuring the best value for National Grid. Negotiates portfolio targets, funding levels, metrics, and reporting requirements with stakeholders, including relevant advisory councils and their consultants, regulators, local governments, customer groups, environmental organizations, and others. Attends and participates in regulatory proceedings as necessary. Partners with several internal teams and vendors on a day-to-day basis to design and evolve the portfolio of customer energy management solutions for customers. With an understanding of each team's expertise and requirements, achieves alignment on planning, development, and implementation as it relates to energy efficiency and demand reduction strategies. Makes informed, authoritative recommendations regarding the Residential and Income Eligible customer energy management portfolio. Seeks ways to improve internal processes and foster cross-functional collaboration. Champions continuous improvement of customer energy management offerings. Ensure compliance with all regulatory mandates and processes, including potentially being called upon to testify before state legislative and regulatory bodies to support National Grid's energy policy and energy efficiency, demand reduction and climate change portfolio. Stays informed of and assesses the potential impact of relevant regulatory and policy developments. Supports the optimization of product and service development to support regulatory requirements, meet compliance obligations, and achieve shareholder incentives and other performance-based regulation mechanisms in support of creating value for customers and driving improved financial outcomes for National Grid. Evaluates key themes and options through the analysis of various programmatic and technology-based alternatives to identify how different scenarios may impact energy efficiency program results and costs and to develop state energy policies.Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a business, environmental or mechanical/energy systems, or engineering related area or 3+ years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree/credits are preferred. Knowledge of the electric and gas industry; energy efficiency program planning, design, implementation and evaluation, local and national energy policy, with knowledge on building codes and appliance standards strongly preferred. 3+ years of energy efficiency evaluation or energy industry related analytical and/or regulatory work. Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices. Knowledge of relevant industry practice. Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
