Job Description:
The Precision Medicine Department is committed to advancing drug development and patient care through building a deeper understanding of disease biology and developing tools to optimize clinical decision making and customize treatment for patients. The Scientist will be part of a fast paced and mutli-disciplinary team responsible for developing and implementing new technologies to enable decision making in clinical trials, and evaluate disease and drug biology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology and autoimmunity and a demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments independently. The successful candidate will have expertise in advanced molecular techniques such as next generation sequencing, fluidigm HTqPCR and instrument automation. The successful candidate will also have experience with handling human tissues and samples, and developing assays to evaluate drug target engagement, receptor occupancy and pharmacodynamics, and interrogate disease and drug biology. The ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, represent program-related work to senior management and external collaborators will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of productivity in the laboratory
- Independently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions
- Demonstrate the ability to resolve project hurdles by utilizing available information and technical expertise in molecular biology
- Analyze and document results, placing data in proper scientific context through review of relevant literature and report findings at team meetings
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, controlled drugs and radioactive compounds
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and typically 7 or more years of experience, Master's Degree or equivalent education and typically 5 or more years of experience
- Expertise in next generation sequencing
- Strong experience with instrument automation for library preparation (Beckman Biomek i7)
- Experienced in RNAseq, methylation sequencing, automated RNA isolation
- Experience working with human tissues
- Experience with scRNA-seq or CITE-seq is a plus
- Knowledge of target engagement, receptor occupancy and pharmacodynamic assay development is a plus
- Knowledge of basic immunology concepts
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary groups in a fast-paced discovery team setting
- Effectively communicate cross-functionally with team members throughout the organization
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral)
