The Company operates out of several facilities, including two transfer stations. Priority Waste maintains a diversified platform providing service to both municipal solid-waste, construction, and demolition customers. Through our yellow fleet of residential, roll off, and front load trucks and containers, Priority Waste makes the customer experience our #1 priority.
Job Purpose
In your role as a Financial Analyst, you will collaborate closely with the company's Chief Financial Officer to establish consistent and clear financial forecasting, sound financial controls, and key reporting procedures that support the Company's overall strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking.
- Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.
- Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
- Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization.
- Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials.
- Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards.
- Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.
- Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and valuation comps.
- Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models.
- Forecasts accurate and timely cash flow, sales/bookings, and expense projections. Analyzes variances to forecast.
- Develops analysis on company operating results and financial position including key revenue drivers, cash management, investment prioritization, and product line profitability.
- Assists department managers with budgeting and forecasting processes that includes overall planning, preparing and maintain company's budget and forecast.
- Monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting analysis on revenues, costs and investments.
- Provide support and data analytics to sales and operations management as needed.
- Manage and generate periodic KPI data.
- Participates in review and analysis of potential acquisitions and subsequent post-mortem.
- Assists in the preparation of financial presentations to management, board members and potential investors.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Company.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate profile includes:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, statistics or economics is required.
· Minimum of three years of work-related experience in a financial analyst role.
· Experience analyzing data generated by an ERP is highly desirable.
· Strong understanding of how economic trends, political situations, polices and regulation may affect business operations.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to process large amounts of information to identify trends.
· Excellent technical knowledge of budgeting, cash management, and financial analysis processes.
· Excellent time management, decision-making, presentation and organizational skills.
· Able to collaborate with managers throughout the organization in analyzing financial situations.
· Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
· Proven track record of driving and participating in continuous Improvement activities.
· Effective phone skills and professional etiquette is required.
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Good negotiating skills.
· Excellent math and financial analysis skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
· Familiarity with data query/data management tools (Access, SQL, Business Objects, Jedox)
· Positive attitude, especially in stressful situations.

Location & Travel
The Financial Analyst will work onsite at the company's headquarters in Clinton Township, MI and require no travel.
