Job description

The Receptionist will oversee the day-to-day operations of the front desk and manage all incoming calls and mail and greet participants and visitors and connect them to the appropriate staff and/or resource. The Receptionist will also ensure all visitors to the building adhere to health and safety requirements (ie. temperature check, mask wearing, etc.)

Skills/ Responsibilities

The Receptionist will be responsible for (1) managing the reception area of the agency, (2) answering the telephone and directing calls, (3) taking messages, (4) greeting clients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, (5) assisting clients and visitors and direct them to the appropriate person or area of DHDC, (6) assisting clients in filling out General Screening Forms, (7) maintaining reception area in a clean, orderly appearance, (8) documenting incoming and outgoing mail, (9) maintaining office equipment, (10) maintaining visitor sign-in sheets, (11) performing all other tasks as assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish and English required (speak, read write); have a minimum of High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of customer service experience. Must be able to handle a high volume of phone calls and work multiple-line telephones. Must be able to perform multiple tasks at once and work independently.

Related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Receptionist must have the following attributes: work well independently and in a group setting, good writing, professional speaking, organizational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to interact well with clients, funding sources, community partners, and clients. The applicant must have knowledge of the Southwest Detroit community and all DHDC and community services and resources.
