Senior Accountant

Job description

Our client is a large Financial Services organization located in Troy. They are looking for a Senior accountant who will support US GAAP compliance, external reporting and SOX internal controls review, applying and maintain the banks accounting policies and procedures and working with business patterns to ensure controls are in place.

This is a very large company that recently went through a company merger. They have over 150 branches across the country and have over $100 billion in assets.

Responsibilities:

• Work with management to develop, implement, perform, and maintain accounting policies.
• Document Analysis of accounting matters and provide recommendations to business unit leaders
• Assist in the compilation and review of quarterly presentations to the Executive and Audit committees.
• Research and evaluate transactions, legal contracts, business practices and policies for compliance with accounting and regulatory reporting guidance.
• Perform ad hoc reporting and projects to help drive process improvements across the organization

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or better in accounting
• 4 + years of Corporate Accounting experience
• Previous experience working within Big 4 or large firm public accounting
• SEC reporting and GAAP compliance experience.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Expert level in Microsoft Excel.
