Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Research Assistant - Antibody Engineer:
The Lipchik Group at Wayne State University is seeking a highly motivated research technician to perform activities focused on the discovery and engineering of antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of inflammation. The successful candidate will implement and apply antibody engineering, protein biochemistry, and cellular and murine models of inflammation to develop, validate, and test novel antibodies. The candidate will be expected to make intellectual as well as technical contributions to the team.
Jobs Duties:
-Work as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team of scientist including chemist and biologist to develop antibody-based therapeutics as part of our discovery programs.
-Develop and implement new methods to advance our antibody drug discovery efforts including modifications to, or improvements in design of antibodies.
-Development of novel platforms for the discovery and engineering of multi-specific and functional antibodies with novel activities.
-Plan, coordinate, and supervise assigned research projects and responsible for project performance and accountable for progress.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.

Unique Duties
Qualifications
The successful applicants will have a BS in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, or related field and must be familiar with molecular biology techniques including site-directed mutagenesis, molecular cloning, construct design, Gibson assembly, phage or yeast display, protein purification and characterization via FPLC, SDS-PAGE, and Western Blot. Good oral/written communication skills, creative problem-solving flexibility, and the ability to integrate detailed analysis into a larger disease-oriented context will be expected.
Ability to work independently. Ability to analyze, summarize and interpret research findings and data in reports and spreadsheets and communicate results. Knowledge of scientific integrity principles. Excellent time management and organization skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment. Microsoft office software skills.
