Position Summary

This position is responsible for timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable, with an emphasis on client invoicing and project accounting. This position will provide other accounting support as needed.


**This position has the ability to be remote and a hybrid work schedule is offered (2 days in office/3 days working from home). Preference will be given to candidates living within commutable distance to Kalamazoo, MI or St. Charles, IL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Typical functions of the Accounting Specialist job include, but are not limited to:

  • Project accounting functions including initial project setup, client billings, collections, and project closeout.
  • Prepare monthly invoices for various client and contract types.
  • Track accounts receivable, identify past due accounts, and follow-up with clients as needed.
  • Manage accounts payable from entering vendor invoices to processing payments.
  • Process employee expense reimbursements.
  • Monthly company credit card reconciliation.
  • Provide accounting support for month-end activities and annual financial audit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position will be assessed based upon these attributes and qualifications:

  • Minimum education: Associate's Degree
  • Minimum of two years related experience required
  • Architecture/Engineering or Construction industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with federal and state contracting agencies, including State DOT strongly preferred
  • Experience with Deltek Vision and Vantagepoint preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and remotely (if required)

FLSA Status

The Accounting Specialist position is a full-time, non-exempt position.


Reporting

The Accounting Clerk reports to the Director of Finance.
