ROLE SUMMARY
Trainee must have relevant experience and strong mechanical aptitude. Self-starter with ability to work independently and willingness to commit to completion of formal apprenticeship training program that includes both classroom work and documented 8000 hours of on-the-job training. Good verbal and written communication skills
Potential for exposure to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in‑motion, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting. The proper use of the correct Personal Protective Equipment for each task as well as compliance with all applicable safety Standard Procedures is a must. May work variable shifts and 24‑hour on‑call as required. Participates in multicraft work activities as required.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
A Maintenance Mechanic working within the Operations and Utilities environment. Mechanic is required to read and understand drawings / blueprints, utilizing this knowledge for the installation / repair of new and existing equipment. Performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, and troubleshoots a multitude of equipment. This job requires the use of precision measuring devices, the ability to repair glass lined and glass coated equipment, and properly install pumps, agitators, and mechanical seals. He/she is required to work with precision bearings, electric motor gearing, gearboxes, packaging machinery and related equipment. The Mechanic also provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). Can serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up). Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost effective manner.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include: As part of the Apprentice Academy shift and area placement will be based on business need. May work variable shifts and 24 hour on call as required. Participates in multicraft work activities as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma / general education degree (GED) plus either an Associate's degree or relevant experience. Self-starter with ability to work independently and strong mechanical aptitude.

Excellent computer user skills are required (Microsoft systems).
Excellent communications Skills
Strong work ethic and the ambition to be the best.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Blue print reading a plus
Electrical diagram reading a plus
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

As part of the Apprentice Academy shift and area placement will be based on business need. May work variable shifts and 24 hour on call as required. Participates in multicraft work activities as required. (EMU craft generic).
The proper use of the correct Personal Protective Equipment for each task as well as compliance with all applicable safety Standard Procedures is a must.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to pass aseptic gowning qualification
May work variable shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and overtime as required
Acceptance into the position includes agreement of area and shift rotation during the 8000 hour program to gain experience and knowledge in all areas of the facility to meet the minimum required hours under each of the on the job training categories specific to the trade.
Upon completion of the program, area and shift placement will be based on business need.
