Director of Marketing - Full-Time - International Hearing Society (non-profit association)

SALARY RANGE: $75,000-$85,000

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Marketing is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring effective marketing strategies and communications activities across many departments. The position oversees and manages day-to-day marketing activities and projects for the International Hearing Society while managing and working closely with a Marketing and Graphics Design Coordinator on higher-level, strategic projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement an annual budget and plan including strategies and tactics that increase awareness and relevancy and generate demand to the brand.
  • Be a change agent to grow our association. Collaborate with staff and product managers on the strategic planning and tactical execution of results-driven campaigns.
  • Liaise, with Executive Director on special projects and technology-related endeavors (including videos, a new website on the Higher Logic platform, webinars, community hub, etc.)
  • Provide industry-related competitive analysis to Executive Director and develop the IHS Convention marketing strategy, calendar, and activities.
  • Create and execute webinars, email campaigns, measuring results, testing variables, cleaning list data, and report results to the team, while making suggestions for improvements.
  • CRM management (IMIS) for marketing and market research. Delve into the database to learn how and what data is collected and stored. Becoming an expert in the database is key to understanding our members and the market.
  • Help lead content development.
  • Track the effectiveness of marketing programs to identify insights and develop recommendations to improve future initiatives. Provide metrics and reports to sales on digital campaigns that have been sold to our customers.
  • Hire, retain, and coach competent, qualified marketing/communications staff.
  • Coordinate media interest in IHS and appropriate response to media inquiries.
  • Manage the IHS website and its upkeep.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator to design and edit graphics for web, social media, and print, as well as edit webinars and other videos as needed.
  • Manages the work of the Marketing and Graphics Coordinator (direct report) and various freelancers, who support the Society's marketing endeavors.
  • Provide tools, materials, and presentations to support sales/business development efforts.
  • Serves as a member of our leadership team and performs other duties willingly as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of strategic marketing experience preferably in an association or other non-profit setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (in marketing, public relations, journalism/communications, or general business). Master's degree preferred.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, superior language, grammar, and communication skills.
  • Expert in producing and overseeing the design and production of print and digital materials, content marketing, and social media marketing
  • Extensive multi-channel marketing experience in both tactical execution and project oversight.
  • IMIS database and data mining experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply marketing insights and ideas to Society and project objectives.
  • Ability to learn and conform to established operating procedures, while keeping an eye on continuous improvement.
  • Deadline-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and resourceful attitude. Willing to research and find the answers, propose new ideas, and jump in to help a teammate or member.
  • Ability to pivot quickly from project to project while work autonomously as well as in concert and collaboration with others.
  • Proficient in email marketing platforms. Familiarity with web content management systems, SEO, and Asana.
