GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs phlebotomy following all department procedures and protocols. Assists Medical Technologist by performing routine duties in the clinical laboratory. Exercises efficient performance of clerical functions to include verifying doctor's requests, typing, and registrations. Collects proper specimens and delivers to appropriate department. May be assigned to a specific job assignment.
High School diploma or equivalent required one or two years of college preferred; 6 months to one year's experience in a laboratory setting preferred. Technical training in college or medically related technical program preferred. Effective communications experience. Knowledge of procedure for routine tests required. On-the-job training for all duties performed. Effectively communicates appropriate information to and from hospital staff and patients. Free from physical ailments or sensitivities that preclude working with chemicals, reagents, or materials used within the safety guidelines and policies of the department.
