Marshall Community Credit Union is seeking an experienced credit union accountant to oversee the accounting team and operations, including managing general accounting activities, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, investment accounting, general ledger maintenance, and management accounting. The chosen candidate will instill confidence and trust, effectively delegate, promote teamwork and gain cooperation of Accounting Department staff.


The ideal candidate will be a CPA and/or CMA, have credit union industry experience as an external financial auditor and/or a credit union accountant, possess management experience, and have a background in managerial cost accounting (branch/cost center/department/product/etc.). Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, and a minimum of five years of financial institution accounting experience.

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated leader with a strong work ethic; have the ability to organize and manage competing priorities, deadlines and projects; have strong analytical skills that accompany sound judgment and decision-making ability; be proficient in researching, analyzing, problem-solving and project management; and possess solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills. Must be proficient with spreadsheet applications.


The primary responsibilities of this position are as follows:


  • promoting credit union goals and strategies
  • engaging in projects and analysis
  • ensuring credit union compliance with GAAP, NCUA regulations, and state and federal laws
  • supervising annual budget preparation and related processes
  • compiling and reviewing regulatory reports and monthly financial reports for the Board
  • assisting with coordination of financial audits and state and federal examinations
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge and keeping current with industry trends, news, laws, etc.
  • Providing back-up for other Accounting personnel in such things as month-end/quarter-end accounting processing, ALM input, accounts payable, etc.
