POSITION SUMMARY

The Waterfront Coordinator's main duty is to ensure a safe, smoothly-run waterfront area. They are responsible for the planning and facilitating of all aspects of the Camp Waterfront. This position assigns lifeguard specialists to oversee daily waterfront activities and ensures that all waterfront safety procedures are implemented. Also responsible for keeping the waterfront area clean each day and performing daily maintenance checks on all speedboats & Jet Skis. This position is required to live on site. Schedule: Sunday at 11:00am until Friday at 7:00pm. Must be at least 18 years of age.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensure a safe and quality experience at the waterfront for both campers and staff
• Supervise camp staff while at the waterfront by giving them direction, resources, and leadership
• Schedule and assign lifeguard certified staff to perform essential functions of all waterfront activities
• Train lifeguard certified staff in essential functions of waterfront activities and facilitate weekly in-services
• Supervise campers and staff during all waterfront activities.
• Oversee the facilitation of free swim times for all programs (OC, DC, Horse camp).
• Assumes key leadership role during all other operation times at camp

Performs any other functions deemed to be necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association

COMPENSATION

• This position is required to live on site, housing is provided. Meals are provided Sunday - Friday. Staff are allowed to remain on site during the weekends throughout their seasonal employment if they choose. Scheduled time off will be granted each day.
• $60.00 - $65.00 per day; Seasonal; Non -Exempt
• Free individual YMCA Membership

. Requirements:

KNOW HOW

• At least 18 years of age and high school graduate or equivalent
• Documented experience working with children and a desire to work outdoors
• Organizational skills to plan, schedule, and facilitate programs
• Ability to give supervision and guidance to staff
• Ability to plan, lead and/or assist in teaching an activity
• Ability to teach leadership skills
• Ability to teach and role model the Core Values of the YMCA and use of 21st century life skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Lifeguard certified or (re)certify through GRYMCA upon hire
• Cardio Pulmonary Recitation (CPR) for rescue required
• First Aid certification required
• Blood borne pathogens training required upon hire
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
