Hybrid Work Position: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

This position requires an employee to be onsite every other week.

As a CAE Engineer, you will perform structural analysis on assigned projects at the vehicle system level. You will use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other analysis methods to assess and lead designs.

You are responsible for the creation and documentation of modeling plans to engineering team and initiation of new processes and tools. Responsible to create and execute Finite Element Analysis (FEA) plans for assigned projects. Participate in the creation of assigned subsystem Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models . Motivate CAE suppliers and internal resources to meet program milestones and deliverables. Perform and oversee resources for virtual assessment of designs and compare results to performance requirements. Initiate design solutions to resolve any performance issues with mass & cost efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs CAE simulations per standard work on RESS components using Dyna3d.

Standard work includes Module Shipping, minor/major collision, and pack drop.

Performs CAE simulations per standard work on Full vehicles with detailed RESS models using Dyna3d.

Standard work includes underbody curb protection, vehicle jacking, RR crossing, front/side/rear crash simulations.

Participates in RLM/ATW projects to improve predictive capabilities.

Works closely with VDDV program teams and Battery Structure and Thermal team; Strengthen cross functional works flows between all RESS stakeholders.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills and Experience:

3 years of relevant CAE experience required.

Proficient using LS-Dyna3d.

Proficient in pre/post processing software Primer, Meta-post.

Skilled in modeling/meshing using Hypermesh, Ansa, Teamcenter.

Skilled in MS office products Word, Excel, Power point.

Experienced in crash simulation of full vehicles.

Experienced integrating CAE derived proposals across body, crash, chassis, electrical,and GPS teams to ensure proposed solutions are acceptable to all functional areas.

Skilled at delivering results summaries to all levels of management.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experienced integrating Dyna3d CAE models, SLE experience preferred.

Prior experience with vehicle battery system.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
