This company located in the South Bend, IN area has been in successful operation for 100yrs. Now because of major growth they are seeking to expand further. The Process Technician position is natural progression to management by learning the manufacturing process from the ground up to become an expert.

Provide support for the on-shift paper mill management and production team by assisting in supervision tasks and filling open operational tasks as necessary to ensure stable, safe, consistent and reliable production. Drive production and quality improvement by completing daily operational, safety, quality and process checklists, providing training and follow-up functions with new employees and operating equipment as needed.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Interact daily with the paper mill supervisor to set daily priorities to maintain paper production, ensure a safe working environment and clean workplace. Priorities will vary daily based on staffing levels, new employees, previous housekeeping levels, recent safety incidents, paper grades being manufactured, paper quality concerns and other manufacturing tasks requiring extra supervision or operator assistance.

• Provide additional supervision assisting the paper mill supervisor. This task could include but is not limited to giving operation employees instructions, following up with operation employees on completion of tasks, auditing performance and providing corrective coaching and assisting operational employees in problem solving.

• Complete daily checklists and audits on safety, process conformance, quality and housekeeping and formulate corrective actions for the paper mill supervisor based on findings.

• Interact with new employees providing orientation and training support. This tasks includes completing new employee checklists, mentoring and monitoring, safety monitoring, coaching and acting as a point person resource for new employee concerns and questions.

• The Process Tech will fill operational employee openings and gaps as needed. This task will vary by shift and week but could be up to 30% of the Process Tech's role. This task could include but not limited to forklift operation, working in the pulp prep area loading the pulpers, various paper machine roles including operating the hoist and the winder and various housekeeping duties.

• The Process Tech will over time acquire the skills and knowledge required for the paper mill supervisor role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent GED

EXPERIENCE:

1. 5 years' experience in Manufacturing is required.
2. Outstanding counting, organization, coordination and problem solving skills are essential.
3. Written and verbal communication skills.
4. Enjoys working in teams.
5. Proficient completing inspection forms with clear documentation.
