Job description

Fisher Dynamics is seeking an experienced Commodity Buyer to support our corporate purchasing team in St. Clair Shores Michigan. The Buyer is responsible for the management of an assigned commodity spend portfolio; developing and executing commodity strategies, leading strategic source initiatives by automotive program, and managing daily operations/supplier relationships



Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Commodity Strategy: Develop and execute commodity-specific sourcing strategies, leveraging market data and referencing commodity/supplier spend figures
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and nurture relationships with suppliers, emphasizing continuous improvement, cost-competitiveness and customer service
  • Uphold best-in-class sourcing practices: Publish/manage RFQs, evaluate supplier responses for competitiveness, lead commercial negotiations, evaluate quality/financial stability, and execute sourcing decisions inline with the Fisher Dynamics Buyer Checklist
  • Manage supply-continuity events in coordination with Fisher Dynamics Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management & Sales

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or any related field


Experience

At least 3-5 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain or a related Operational function

Automotive Industry/Automotive Seating experience preferred

Skills

  • Knowledge of core purchasing processes and strategic sourcing concepts
  • Proven strategic negotiation skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform financial analysis with an emphasis on data integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and database programs
  • Understanding of basic contract law
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and raw materials
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment

Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of an office setting and manufacturing environment.
