Job description

ASE is searching for a motivated professional, with 2 to 4 years of experience in customer service or sales to join our team in Troy, MI. Developing relationships to sell and acquire new members and expanding business with current members are the main responsibilities of this position. Duties also include selling membership value and other ASE products or services to prospects using virtual platforms, email, or live visits as the primary media for contact and negotiation. Expand the awareness of ASE and its services, grow the membership base, increase public training class attendance, and cross-sell the associations for-fee service offerings.

Principal Duties:

  • To fully understand ASE; all departments; staff accountabilities; programs; and services offered.
  • Achieve membership goals by providing comprehensive solutions to employers throughout the state of Michigan needing ASE's products and services.
  • Sell membership in the Association so that membership budget expectations can be met or exceeded.
  • Enroll new members through cold-calling and conducting needs assessments with prospects via virtual meetings, live meetings, phone, or email.
  • Accept completed membership applications, calculate appropriate dues within limits of authority, and process according to company standards.
  • Responsible for selling and providing high quality service to members and prospective members. Represents the association as the "go to person" for additional and referral business. Handles retention issues with current member accounts.
  • Represents ASE at various events, seminars, conferences, and meetings.
  • Develop a short and long-range strategic plan for finding and closing new memberships. Include strategies to exceed membership objectives. Update the plan quarterly.
  • Be educated about local competition to ASE products and services and develop strategies that place ASE in the forefront of prospects' minds.
  • Work with the talent development department to promote public training classes and curriculums and to increase class attendance, so that budgeted revenue and profit expectations can be met or exceeded.
  • Responsible for selling consulting and other fee-for-services offered by the Association. Act as a liaison between members and service line managers.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics related to new members, member services, and retention. Utilize available technology to collect and interpret sales production. Report performance on these metrics to senior management as appropriate.
  • Develop strategies to effectively exceed sales objectives with a focus on revenue and net gain growth. Benchmark best practices and utilize the expertise of staff members to develop innovative approaches for short and long-term growth.
  • Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements. Seek opportunities to contain costs while increasing operational effectiveness.
  • Play a role in annual conferences (i.e. sell/promote sponsorships, recruit attendees, etc.).
  • Establish a work environment that values professionalism and high standards of excellence.
  • Working with team members to achieve weekly, monthly, and yearly targets.
  • Participating in meetings and voicing concerns as well as suggestions for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or other relevant discipline, preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in customer services roles, direct sales, or management.
  • Experience in a human resources role is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong sales skills a must. A "hunter" mentality.
  • Requires a strong customer service ethic.
  • Team player.
  • Must have strong analytical abilities.
  • Needs a general understanding of human resource management issues and topics.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed.
  • Public presentation skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Working knowledge of CRM or other sales software applications.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Internet, LinkedIn, other social media sites, and Teams or other virtual platforms.
