Job Summary:

We are seeking an organized, highly communicative, and action-oriented Buyer to support Insight in providing patient care second to none! The Buyer ensures that materials are procured in an efficient and effective manner, while minimizing costs to the organization. This person will request and manage quotes for materials that are needed in surgeries, standard materials for the office and building, along with other miscellaneous items. Additionally, the Buyer will build and maintain relationships with our Vendors in a proactive manner, follow-up on Purchase Orders, and participate in the full-cycle counting of inventory. This role will primarily work out of our Warren location at the Insight Surgical Hospital, with periodic visits to our Flint campus. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, have success communicating interdepartmentally, and are able to provide quality results while working autonomously.

Duties:

• Requests and manages quotes in a timely manner
• Places and confirms purchase orders in regard to department standards and policies
• Manages and communicates with vendors
• Follows-up on past due purchase orders and establishes action items when necessary
• Maintains inventory
• Participates in cycle counting of inventory
• Ability to communicate on numerous multiple platforms (ie email, messages/emails, phone calls, etc.) in a timely and professional manner
• Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors

Qualifications:

• Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
• Previous experience required; 5-10 years of buying experience
• Previous experience within a Hospital/Medical environment preferred, not required
• Willing to travel from Warren, MI to Flint, MI; travel reimbursement available
• Ability to multitask and juggle multiple projects when needed
• Willing to help team members out in a proactive manner as needed
• Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
• Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
