What a typical day as a Paraprofessional - Academic Support Center might look like:
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Set-up, clean and demonstrate use of equipment and instruments. Maintain and perform minor
repairs on equipment and instruments.
2. Maintain inventories, orders supplies in accordance with college purchasing procedures, prepare
maintenance work orders and arrange for outside repairs of equipment and instruments as necessary.
3. Monitor safety and security of work area, equipment, supplies and materials. Maintain cleanliness
of work area and ensure conformity to MIOSHA directives.
4. Assist faculty in work area as requested.
5. Assist students in labs regarding basic questions in subject matter, equipment, procedures, etc.
6. Issue and check-in instruments, teaching aids, supplies, equipment and materials.
7. Perform necessary clerical duties and functions.
8. Train and direct college student personnel with appropriate approval.
9. Perform related tasks as assigned.
Academic Support Center (ASC):
1. Administer, score and record college placement tests.
2. Administer make-up tests on an individual basis for instructors, the Michigan Community College
Virtual Learning Consortium (MCCVLC) and other tests as needed.
3. Prepare and monitor paperwork for tutors (e.g. EAFs, payroll reports, etc.).
4. Assist students with specialized computer programs (e.g. Plato).
5. Oversee the activities and hours of tutors.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
- Prior Paraprofessional experience
- Associate Degree or higher in Liberal Arts, Science or General Studies: The
General Studies Associates Degree must include ENG 1510, 1520, or equivalents, and either eight (8), credit hours of Science (BIO, CHE, PHY or GSC) or four (4) credits in Science (BIO, CHE, PHY or GSC) and four (4) credits in Math
