Labs Position description The Specimen Operations Team of One is looking for laboratory assistants for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts . As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse , agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. In addition you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. In addition to gaining clinical laboratory experience, you will have many opportunities for career advancement within Specimen Operations. Don't miss out This position is located at the Superior Drive Support Center where immediate parking is available. A two-year commitment to this position is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional qualifications You must include a cover letter, resume, and internal applicants, need to attach your three (3) most recent performance appraisals to be considered for this position Preferred Qualifications : Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology Science background 1-2 years medical experience Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment. Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents. Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Experienced with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations. Flexibility License or certification Exemption status Non-exempt Compensation Detail Experience may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
