Job Description:

The Compliance Specialist, as necessary and in a timely manner, reviews, enters, researches, drafts, manages, processes and resolves all matters regarding consumer disputes relating to consumer reports; consumer report copy and full file requests; client terminations; information export agreements; client disclosures, authorizations and pre-adverse and adverse action letters; criminal record removal requests; undeliverable mail; inadvertent disclosures and consumer report interpretations. The Compliance Specialist systematically gathers information from consumers, clients, various internal departments and vendors and analyzes and interprets that information to resolve tasks and communicates the final resolution of those tasks as appropriate. In addition, the Compliance Specialist creates weekly reports that summarize all weekly Compliance tasks and provides them to the Compliance Manager. The Compliance Specialist must follow established Compliance policies, procedures and processes, have a general understanding of requirements under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable federal/state/local laws and escalate matters to the Compliance Manager when required. The Compliance Specialist reports to the Compliance Manager.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Consumer dispute review, entry, research, analysis and final resolution.
  • Report copy and full file request review, research and final resolution.
  • Client termination review, research, drafting and final resolution.
  • Information export agreement review, research, drafting and final resolution.
  • Client disclosure, authorization and pre-adverse and adverse action letter review and final resolution.
  • Criminal record removal request entry, research and final resolution.
  • Undeliverable mail processing.
  • Inadvertent disclosure review, research, drafting and final resolution.
  • Consumer report interpretation for clients and consumers.
  • Provision of excellent customer service to clients, consumers, vendors and internal departments.
  • Adherence to Compliance policies, procedures and processes.
  • Company personnel training on Compliance policies, procedures and processes.
  • Other projects as assigned by the Compliance Manger and/or General Counsel.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of customer service experience.
  • 1+ years of dispute resolution experience preferred.
  • 1+ years of compliance experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and analogous federal, state and local laws preferred.
  • Experience using case management software.
  • Experience using personal computers and the Microsoft Outlook and Office products.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
