Fund Administration - Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

CLA is seeking a CFO to lead and grow our Fund Administration group nationwide. The CFO must possess several key personal effectiveness traits to be successful. Work Activities & Accountabilities:
  • Monthly/Quarterly financial review, which includes ensuring the assigned staff are...
    • Maintaining/reviewing the general ledger and various sub-ledgers.
    • Balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Investor allocation calculations.
    • Financial statement preparation.
    • Investor statement preparation.
  • Management of capital call and distribution processes and delivery.
  • Understanding the calculations of management fees, preferred returns and waterfalls and being able to effectively discuss them with clients.
  • Business Development - be an active client facing resource for the Private Equity Industry group to create, build and maintain client relationships.
  • Review fund agreements, PPMs, and other materials.
  • Manage and monitor the timing and quality of client deliverables while directing, leading and orchestrating the pace and process of change to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to operate within multiple software environments.
  • Act as liaison to various internal/external parties (ie. auditors, tax department).
  • Interact directly with CLA resources.
  • Communicate directly with investors on behalf of clients.
  • Provide technical accounting/industry knowledge to clients including identify, interpret, apply and communicate accounting and industry rules and regulations.
  • Identify trends in the investment management business and adjust operational services accordingly.
  • Actively coordinate onboarding with new clients and handle ad hoc reports and client requests as needed.
  • Implementation of fund structures on accounting system.
  • Hire, mentor, train and support team members in their development.
  • Engage in local and national group projects.


Required Experience & Education:
  • Experience: minimum 10 years relative work experience with five as a Fund CFO, Senior Controller, or equivalent. Current or recent Private Equity/Investment Company Fund accounting experience.
  • Education: BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Certification: CPA preferred, not required.
  • Tech Knowledge/Experience with Yardi required and other related software preferred.
