Job description

Overview:
The Associate Scientist will help develop and conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis and experiments using the appropriate equipment and analytical techniques. The individual will perform a variety of analytical tests, prepare samples/standards/reagents, troubleshoot, maintain and run instruments.

Responsibilities:
Performs both routine and non-routine assignments, utilizing various types of instrumentation and matrices.

Participates in regulatory compliance activities (i.e. audits and inspections) as well as technical interactions with clients.

Ensures the testing of client samples and reporting of results is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.

Prepares and implements deviations, laboratory investigations and CAPAs as needed

Performs equipment maintenance and troubleshooting; investigate and facilitate the solving of any equipment failures.

Participates in various tasks including method design, development, validation and analysis.

Performs custom protocols and validations within operational area and write final reports to support these activities.

May develop and write protocols and SOPs with assistance.

Determine opportunities to increase efficiency and implement process improvements.

Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.

May assist in training staff.

Qualifications:
Experience / Education

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a BS/BA

PhD or Masters with relevant work study experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Chromatography experience required

Hands on mass spectroscopy experience preferred

Mass spectroscopy data processing preferred

Ability to perform moderate to complex mathematical calculations

Demonstrated chemistry preparation skills

Method development experience

GLP/GMP experience

Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills

Need to be able to read, write and understand English

Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Polymer experience preferred

Bioanalytical experience preferred

Analytical method validation experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in a lab setting with exposure to biohazards/hazardous chemicals

Must be able to wear appropriate PPE

Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Clarity of vision

Ability to identify and distinguish colors

Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

Ability to lift 25 lbs occasionally

Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
