We are seeking a Chemist to join our talented team of engineers and scientists to deliver world class battery solutions for life-saving and life-enhancing active implantable medical devices.
Role Responsibilities
- Work with a multidisciplinary team in developing innovative battery (cell) chemical systems to power life-sustaining and life-enhancing implantable medical devices
- Participate in / lead efforts to characterize the electrochemical performance and stability of electrochemical systems
- Develop methods for characterizing battery components
- Guide teams on material properties, material compatibility, and testing thereof
- Maintain substantial knowledge of chemistry principles, theories, and research
- Build, test cell prototypes
- Conduct failure analysis and postmortem analysis of operated cells and determine cell failure modes and mechanisms that limit cell performance
- Collaborate with the Process Engineering team to transition laboratory-scale designs and production techniques into standardized production processes
- Utilize engineering tools and scientific method to organize problems and find solutions
- Produce technical reports, specifications
- Use the company's document and change control system to properly archive technical documentation
- Contribute to and initiate patent filings

Minimum Qualifications
- M.S. degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Material Science, or related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Fluency in theory and execution of material characterization techniques including XRD, SEM/EDS, DSC/TGA, GCMS, FTIR, and BET
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- PhD in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline and 1-3 years of related battery experience
- Experience with lithium primary batteries
