The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies and commercial clients. MSD is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development of maritime hardware in Long Beach, MS. Position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: This opening seeks a Senior-level mechanical engineer to lead ocean hardware systems, and/or systems of systems, through prototype research and development, initial production, and future full-rate production work. The mechanical engineer will support the planning, design, development, installation, and maintenance of a variety of sub-surface, surface, and land based systems. Develop technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution. Develops solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines. Direct the work of junior team members achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables. Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area. The engineer will also prepare and/or review proposed Engineering Change documents, test plans, and test reports. Will interface with customers, engineering teams, configuration review teams, Quality Assurance, and procurement personnel to define and resolve testing and production issues.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Requires BS degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
Experience with SolidWorks software
Working ability to operate MathCAD and other analysis tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills
Requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree with 6-10 prior relevant experience.
Engineering experience with undersea hardware system development and production
Experience with underwater/marine engineering and the unique applications of working in a maritime environment.
Solidworks Certification: CSWP or CSWA
Experience of working in an ISO9001 environment
Active Secret Security Clearance
