YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist I (Residue Analytical Chemist), are to:
- Perform, or assist in performing laboratory based analytical residue studies to determine the behavior of BCS products in crops, soils, water or animal matrices in full compliance with GLP standards;
- Act as Analytical Principal Investigator or Study Director for GLP residue analysis studies, aid in the development of trace residue analytical methods, prepare study reports and ensure all tasks associated with the study are compliant. Develop study protocols with guidance from senior team members to meet regulatory requirements;
- Support the development of quantitative analytical methods and processing strategies for pesticide residues, and perform residue sample analysis from various matrices (e.g., crop, animal, soil, water, and air);
- Perform identification and confirmation of key degradants and metabolites from radiolabeled studies;
- Evaluate data and prepare detailed study reports for submissions to regulatory authorities taking responsibility for accuracy, veracity, and conformity with all applicable regulations;
- Perform or coordinate the performance of technicians for laboratory studies, and have a working knowledge of regulatory guidelines in appropriate area of focus;
- Assist in training new staff entering the groups on study activities and safety practices, and takes initiative in keeping current with developments in specialized areas;
- Solve analytical and equipment problems in the laboratory environment and seeks expertise and state of the art techniques from within and outside the company to facilitate problem resolution, when necessary;
- Follow company compliance programs, and fully observe all work place safety regulations.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science with at least 6 years of relevant experience or Master of Science with at least 3 years of experience or Ph.D. (defended by 1/31/2022), in Analytical Chemistry, Metabolomics, or related field;
- Experience conducting complex studies, and prioritizing tasks in a frequently changing environment;
- Experience in structure elucidation and confirmation of unknown small molecules OR experience in quantitative analytical method development and trace residue analysis in a variety of matrices with an emphasis on liquid chromatography mass spectrometry-based techniques;
- Working knowledge of global regulatory processes and guidelines for crop protection chemicals, and experience working under EPA and/or OECD;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment while balancing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Good Laboratory Practices regulations;
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software.
Domestic relocation may be available for this role.
