Job description
Position Overview
This position is responsible for procurement activities related to various indirect procurement categories. Activities will include the execution of purchasing transactions, data mining and analysis, development of metrics and supplier relationships, and cost savings analysis and activities. The successful candidate will partner with internal business partners to define requirements, and will develop, recommend, and implement sourcing strategies. This position will manage supplier relationships to ensure performance meets the contractual obligations and will drive continuous improvement, provide procurement input to maximize leverage, and will be responsible for determining appropriate negotiation strategy to meet each business need.
Responsibilities
* Conduct Supplier Performance Management activities including but not limited to Supplier Business Review Meetings, Scorecards, and Compliance requirements.
* Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure that perceived value is being realized. Identify high-risk suppliers, align stakeholders on recommendations, creation and closure of risk mitigation plans.
* Manage PeopleSoft purchase requisitions queue, issue POs, troubleshoot issues and coach extended team members as needed.
* Be proficient in standard procurement tools, processes and industry trends required to deliver Business results.
* Continually evaluate supplier base, looking to maximize value for the company. Categorize vendors based on their strategic value and risk and communicate compliance expectations to current and potential vendors. Prioritize a portfolio of high-value strategic sourcing opportunities, ensuring proper sequencing, resourcing and business support.
* Deliver all Procurement related results associated with business goals for category, including activity related to critical dates, conformity to contract performance, etc. Provide general contractual and commercial advice to internal business partners.
* Develop and maintain category strategies, by partnering, interfacing, and building relationships with internal customers to understand their requirements for products and services.
* Negotiate multi-site / global supply agreements, license agreements, SOWs, SLAs, and other agreements as required.
* Maintain vendor master and item master data.
* Assist in special projects as needed.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
* BA/BS degree in related field (supply chain management, economics, finance, engineering)
* 5+ years of experience in a procurement organization (preferably in a center-led structure )
Preferred:
* Master's degree
* Financial Services/Insurance industry experience
* Knowledge of global vendor regulations including third party requirements
* Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM or APICS)
* Greenfield start-up, acquisition integration or business process re-design experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required:
* Motivate and influence others within organizational hierarchy and among differing cultures
* Solid operational management and general business skills and savvy.
* Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, etc.
* Strong negotiation skills
* Experience with modern sourcing and procurement systems.
* Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions
* Demonstrated ability to develop long range supplier relationships
* Ability to assess source to settle risk and develop effective mitigation plans
* Proven sourcing and cost reduction execution
* Benchmark and scorecard development to drive continuous improvement
