Job Summary

What you'll do...

Perform routine financial or accounting processes for the Corporation such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports, processing of insurance claims, or processing of other information used by Finance and/or management for tracking and decision- making. Apply basic financial or accounting principles to identify and accurately enter financial information. Research and respond to inquiries regarding accounting or financial data or reports in area of specialty.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Processes various forms of financial information and materials and enters financial information into accounting or other financial systems.
• Validates the accuracy of data from financial systems.
• Obtains, researches, and processes confidential information.
• Establishes and maintains financial files for department; updates information as necessary.
• Reviews various financial forms and records and researches and resolves discrepancies.
• Responds timely to inquiries and conducts all necessary research to resolve customer requests.
• Balances and reconciles assigned accounts and/or funds; researches and reconciles any problems or discrepancies.
• May prepare various journal entries and may make recommendations regarding journal entries.
• May enter budget revision requests and other financial information into systems and review reports for accuracy.
• May coordinate with field personnel and TPA all property and casualty claims.
• May work with insurance carriers, brokers, internal clients and TPAs to answer questions concerning insurance coverage and contracts.
• May be responsible for receiving invoices/expense reports from various internal and external sources. Determines proper payment priorities for each type of invoice and handles accordingly.
• May process and check the accuracy of completed contracts and update contract information in automated systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

A minimum of 6 hours college level accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Requirements

• 0 - 2 years experience with accounting and/or financial procedures
• Ability to work independently and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to assimilate into a useful format.
• Strong numerical skills.
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Understanding and previous use of a Windows-based computer system.
• High proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to navigate on the Internet.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HR Block financial procedures.
• Experience using PeopleSoft financial applications and PeopleSoft query.
