Job Summary
This position is responsible for sourcing and negotiating material and service contracts for the Mechanical Car Department in the U.S. and Mexico.
Job Duties
Sources and negotiates material and service contracts for the enterprise wide Mechanical Car department on an international scale across the KCS US and Mexico railroad networks
Manages the request for proposal (RFP) process from vendors as well as conducts bid result analysis. Recommends final vendor selection.
Negotiates in partnership with Legal the final contract or master service agreement (MSA) and associated pricing and terms and conditions of material and service contracts.
Manages regular interaction with internal and external customers, vendors, and the senior management team regarding the status of service and material contracts.
Reviews or modifies processes and measures, and monitors the performance of the Mechanical Car purchasing function.
Reports and analyzes purchasing reports, partners with other functions as needed to identify opportunities to further improve the agreements falling under this role's purview and to measure current state and progress toward goals and objectives

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
Minimum five (5) years of meaningful professional experience
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Requirements
Railroad operations experience or equivalent Materials/Services experience
Experience working with the railroad Mechanical organization, and working knowledge of AAR field/office manual
SAP Purchase-to-Pay experience
Working Conditions
This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal workweek of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
